Overview

A new workshop from DOE’s newest resource, eBERlight, is now accepting applications. The rapidly approaching application deadline for the “eBERlight 101: Application of X-ray Methods in Biological and Environmental Research” is August 30, 2024.

The eBERlight program provides resource access and user support for several X-ray-based tools applicable to research in biological, geological, geochemical, and environmental sciences. The workshop is designed for scientific community members engaging in bioenvironmental research within the DOE mission who are interested in incorporating X-ray methods into their scientific toolkit. Participants will learn about capabilities at Argonne National Laboratory’s Advanced Photon Source and their applications in bioenvironmental science. The workshop will focus on two techniques: X-ray computed tomography and X-ray fluorescence microscopy, including data analysis training.

Enrollment is limited to a small group of 20 participants who will engage in a combination of methods talks, science talks illustrating application, sample preparation, individual projects discussion, and tours of the Advanced Photon Source. A draft agenda for the 3-day workshop is available.
